EFI Generator Fault Codes

The following bulletin covers the following models: 100485.

Please read and view the following instructions carefully and completely before performing the service.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • To reduce the risk of injury, user must read and understand the operator’s manual before using this product.
  • DO NOT make any adjustments to the generator without first stopping the engine and disconnecting the spark plug wire.
  • Burns from hot parts — let the engine cool completely before touching hot parts.
  • Injury from moving parts
  • To reduce the possibility of fire or explosion, be careful when working around gasoline. Keep cigarettes, sparks and flames away from all fuel‐related parts.

Diagnosis

1

O2 sensor open circuit.

1. Check O2 sensor harness is securely connected.

2. Install new sensor - call Technical Support.

Throttle body failure.

Install new throttle body - call Technical Support.

Engine temperature open circuit, 5V /12V short circuit, or short to ground.

1. Check temperature sensor harness is securely connected.

2. Install new sensor - call Technical Support.

System voltage low (min 9V).

Charge battery. Replace battery if does not take a charge.

System voltage high (battery /charger).

Discharge battery and recharge it.

Engine overheat.

1. Let engine cool.

2. Check oil level.

3. Do not overload generator.

Low oil.

1. Add oil to correct level.

2. Install new oil sensor.

Fuel injector 1 open circuit, overcurrent, or short to ground.

1. Check fuel injector harness is securely connected.

2. Change injector - call Technical Support.

Fuel pump open circuit, overcurrent, or short to ground.

1. Check fuel pump harness is securely connected.

2. Change fuel pump - call Technical Support.

Ignition 1 open circuit or overcurrent.

1. Check ignition coil harness is securely connected.

2. Change ignition coil - call Technical Support.

CPS signal issue (crank position sensor, or EMI issue).

1. Check boot on spark plug.

2. Change position sensor - call Technical Support.

ECU reset.

1. Turn generator off.

2. Disconnect the battery, then reconnect.

No fuel from the injector.

1. Check harness connection on injector and fuel pump.

2. Check if fuel being supplied to fuel injector.

3. If fuel supplied to injector, injector to be replaced.

4. If no fuel supplied to injector, fuel pump to be replaced.

Current Transformer open circuit,5V /12V short circuit, or short to ground.

1. Check ignition coil harness is securely connected.

2. Change Current Transformer - call Technical Support.

High temperature warning.

1. Remove load.

2. Let engine cool.

3. See “Connecting Electrical Load” in the Operator”s Manual.

Over voltage.

Change AVR - call Technical Support.

Engine under speed.

Reduce load. See “Do Not Overload Generator” section of manual.
