Q1: Can I operate my generator inside a shed away from my home?

Updated by Juan Velez

CO = Carbon Monoxide

A: No. Generators are intended to be used outdoors, far away from occupied buildings, with the exhaust pointed away from people and buildings. If you misuse your generator by operating it in an enclosed or partially enclosed space (such as a covered porch, a shed, a garage, or a garage with the door partially open), this will result in the dangerous accumulation of CO inside the space, and CO Shield will automatically shut off the generator. DO NOT place the generator near vents or intakes where exhaust fumes could be drawn into occupied or confined spaces. Carefully consider wind and air currents when positioning your generator.
